What is Considered to be a Dental Emergency?

Our team considers a dental emergency to be pain or discomfort in your teeth, gum tissue, or surrounding bone and jaw joints. If you are suffering pain from a sudden or lingering toothache, fracture, or knock-out tooth, or have been involved in an accident that includes your teeth and jaw should be treated by a dentist immediately.

Oakridge Crossing Dental reserves time in our daily schedule specifically for dental emergencies – we always do our best to accommodate emergency dental patients. We are pleased to assist both existing and new patients who are unable to see their regular dentist promptly.

To help you before you arrive at our Calgary emergency dental office, we will offer our assistance over the phone to advise you on how to remain as comfortable as possible until you can be seen at our Oakridge Crossing Dental Office.

If you are experiencing any of the following, please contact our office immediately for assistance:

• Teeth that have been knocked out (TIP: keep tooth under your tongue or keep it submerged in milk)
• Chipped, cracked, or broken teeth
• Injuries to the soft tissues such as biting your lip or tongue
• Loose teeth
• An infection of the teeth or gums that is not controlled with over-the-counter pain medications
• Broken or damaged restoration such as a dental crown, filling, or bridge
• Pain and/or discomfort after recent dental treatment
• Jaw pain could be an early sign of a heart attack. If you suspect you have a heart attack, call 911 immediately.
